Dental veneers are thin shells, made of porcelain or resin composite material, that are attached to the front of the teeth to cover up chipped, discolored, cracked, or broken teeth. They originally became popular with movie stars, but these days everyday folks can also have a glamorous smile.
Normally, dentists take some time to prepare the teeth before cementing the veneer to the teeth. A dentist usually needs to grind 1/2 millimeter off the enamel of the tooth to make it rough on the surface. Then the dentist uses dental cement to bond (attach) the veneer to the tooth.
No-prep veneers are applied to teeth much faster. They take less time and virtually no preparation. Our dentist will make impressions of your teeth, create veneers from the impressions, make sure the veneers match your teeth in size and color, possibly etch the surface of your teeth to give the veneer something to attach to, and then cement the veneers on to your teeth.
